Does JNRT have any special issues open right now?
Yes. The special issue open for submission is listed above with its scope, topics and guest editor. JNRT also accepts regular submissions in neuroscience and neurology throughout the year.
What is a special issue at JNRT?
A guest-edited, themed collection of peer-reviewed articles on a focused topic in neuroscience or neurology, open to basic, clinical, applied, experimental and translational research. It runs to the same standards as the regular journal: the same peer review, the same open-access publication with a permanent Crossref DOI, and the same article processing charge.
How do I propose a special issue?
Email the editorial office with a working title, a short scope statement, the name, affiliation and ORCID iD of each proposed guest editor, and an indicative timeline. The editorial office reviews every proposal for fit with the journal scope in neuroscience and neurology, scientific rigor and feasibility before any call is opened.
Who can be a guest editor?
An established researcher with a strong publication record in the proposed topic and no unmanaged conflicts of interest. Guest editors shape the scope and coordinate the call, and oversee independent peer review with support from the editorial office. Final decisions rest with the journal.
Are special-issue articles reviewed or priced differently?
No. Every special-issue manuscript undergoes the same peer review as a regular submission. Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request. Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts. A guest editor never handles their own paper. Articles carry the journal’s standard APC of USD 2,100, payable only after acceptance; withdrawal after submission is subject to the journal's
withdrawal policy. There is no additional charge for inclusion in a collection.
How will I know when a new special issue opens?
Accepted calls are listed on this page with their scope, topics and guest editor. You can also watch the Call for Papers page or email the editorial office to register interest in a topic so we can let you know when a relevant call opens.
