Membership for researchers, students and institutions
Membership is an optional publishing arrangement with Open Access Pub for authors and institutions that publish regularly in neuroscience and neurology. It is a way to plan article processing charges over a membership year. It does not change how a manuscript is reviewed or decided.
Who membership is for
Three membership categories are available for JNRT. The fees, entitlements and enrollment steps for each category are set out in the current schedule from the membership office.
Individual
Individual researcher
Neurologists, neuroscientists, psychiatrists and independent researchers who publish regularly in neuroscience and neurology research.
Student
Student membership
Graduate students, doctoral candidates and medical residents in neuroscience or neurology programs.
Applicants provide confirmation of enrollment, such as a letter from their department confirming graduate student or resident status.
Institutional
Institutional membership
Neurology departments, neuroscience institutes, medical schools and research centers, with one institutional arrangement covering multiple authors.
Institutional arrangements, including multi-year terms, are discussed directly with the membership office.
Membership and peer review
Manuscripts from members undergo the same independent editorial assessment and peer review as every other submission to JNRT.
- Peer review. Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request. Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.
- Editorial decisions. Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal. They are made independently of membership status and ability to pay. See the editorial policies.
- Charges after acceptance. Membership applies to charges after acceptance. Whether a manuscript is accepted is decided on editorial criteria alone.
- The same published record. Every accepted article is published open access under CC BY 4.0 with a Crossref DOI, whether or not its authors are members.
